CoachBright Programme

Applications for 2025/26 are now closed. Applications for 2026/27 will open in Autumn.

We’ve compiled some Frequently Asked Questions below about the CoachBright programme. If you have other questions, big or small, please don’t hesitate to email us at studentlife@qmul.ac.uk

Will I see a male or female coach?

We will match you with a coach based primarily on the bio's we receive from yourself and the coaches. We always try to match based on shared interests and shared personalities. If you would specifically like a male or female coach, please add this to your bio or get in touch with us directly.

How are coaches allocated?

Coaches are allocated first based on your and their availability, we will then read over the bio you and the coaches submitted to try to get a good match based on shared interests or personalities.

How will the sessions be structured?

Sessions do not adhere to a strict structure. Your coach will take your lead in where the coaching conversation goes and what you'd like to focus on. The session is like a conversation, and can flow in the way you'd like it to.

Will I be put on the spot?

Your coach will take your lead in the sessions. You can discuss what you'd like to in the sessions and when your coach asks you questions you can simply let them know you'd like to direct the conversation elsewhere. Coaches are there to guide you, but will not push you to where you feel uncomfortable.

How long are the sessions?

Launch session: 1 hour 45 minutes
Mid-point session: 1 hour
Final session: 2 hours
Coaching sessions: 6 x 1 hour

Am I eligible?

Eligible students must be Home undergraduates who are from Black and Minority Ethnic (BAME) backgrounds or who were previously in receipt of Free School Meals (FSM).
