Before you read on for more details about how to win the prize, let us share a bit more about what IT Services has done recently to improve your experience with IT resources.
From launching AskQM (our new way of managing student enquires) in April and IT Helpdesk portal to investing £3m in enhancing Wi-Fi connectivity and introducing the 'Home from Home' feature in Halls across campuses, there has been an unprecedented level of investment made to support your study and admin activities with IT resources.
We’ve refreshed computer labs and increased the number of self-service loan laptops to make sure you can access computing devices on campus. We placed 20 ChargeBox FAST stations in strategic locations so that your smartphones and tablets don't run out of juice.
We heard you when you told us about the impact that audiovisual technology in teaching spaces has on your learning experience. As a result, we upgraded audio and video equipment in 51 teaching spaces, including the Library rooms that you can use for peer studies. An additional 18 rooms will adopt the new AV standard, making it easier to use and further reducing issues during class.
Our core systems, including QMplus, Q-Review and MySIS, have been upgraded for greater reliability and ease of use. At the same time, the new applications infrastructure now provides more reliable remote access to Appsanywhere. Plus, our streamlined IT Welcome Journey welcomes new students with a simple, engaging start, accompanied by a range of induction sessions developed by students for students. Check out some of the resources made with students and IT Services:
- From Students to Staff with (Q-Review) Love: Why lecture capture is so important to me? ++ library of other student-led videos for staff
- Find your nearest available computer
- Top tips and tricks: QMplus - submitting assignments, accessing grades and feedback, Turnitin and more TELT Handbook
