Teaching Excellence Framework (TEF) Results 2023

Professor Stephanie Marshall, Vice-Principal (Education) and Serena-Amani Al Jabbar, Students’ Union President wrote to all students with an update on our Teaching Excellence Framework (TEF) Results 2023.

Published:

Dear students,

We are writing to share with you the results of the latest assessment of quality of education in universities in England. Known as the TEF (the Teaching Excellence Framework), this assessment is run by the Office for Students (OfS) and each university is awarded one of four categories: Gold, Silver, Bronze and ‘requires improvement’.

In our last TEF exercise in 2017 we were awarded Silver and we have maintained Silver this time around.

We are committed to providing an outstanding, inclusive, world-class education and student experience, co-created with our diverse student body, enhanced by our world-leading research and latest technological developments. We set out that commitment in our Strategy 2030, and the way in which we plan to achieve this is articulated in our Active Curriculum for Excellence (ACE).

While we have maintained a Silver award, we know from our National Student Survey (NSS) results, (which are used to compare and rank the quality of teaching at universities across the sector), that we have more to do to deliver consistently across our University the world-class education and experience our students expect and deserve. Working together – our University and Students’ Union – this will be a key focus for us over the coming year.

If you would like to know more about the OfS and TEF, please visit this website.

Best wishes,

Stephanie and Serena
