A message sent on behalf of Professor Rebecca Lingwood, Vice-Principal (Student Experience, Teaching and Learning), to all students on Wednesday 24 January.
Members of the University and College Union (UCU) have voted to take strike action or action short of a strike at Queen Mary and in many other UK universities. This is part of a dispute over proposed changes to the Universities Superannuation Scheme (USS pension).
UCU will inform Queen Mary management 14 days in advance of the action they plan to ask their members to take. Our Industrial Action Strategic Contingency Group, which I chair, has been convened and will help prepare for any action, and put plans in place to minimise the impact on you and your studies.
I will write to you to keep you informed.
Regards,
Rebecca Lingwood Vice-Principal (Student Experience, Teaching and Learning)
