A message from Mike Digby, Head of Security at Queen Mary
I’m getting in contact following a number of laptop thefts at the Whitechapel campus and an increase in belongings being left unattended in the Mile End Library and elsewhere on campus.
We have increased security patrols in these areas and continue to actively monitor the situation. We also continue to provide advice and support to the library security teams.
It’s important to highlight that the reports we have received state that the laptops were left unattended for lengthy periods of time. Please do not leave your personal belongings unattended for any length of time, even if it’s just to get a book out or grab a coffee. If you do lose anything or have your belongings stolen, contact Security as soon as possible. Further guidance is available here.
More advice on personal safety is available from the Security website.
Best wishes,
Mike Digby Head of Security and Emergency Planning
