QM Elevate: Know your subject, course and expectations

Published:

Tip 1: Immerse yourself in your subject

Explore your subject beyond your classes. Join academic societies, attend talks and discussions, and connect with students who share your interests. The more you engage with your subject, the more you will develop your knowledge, academic vocabulary and confidence.

Tip 2: Know what your modules expect from you

Take some time to look at the aims and learning outcomes of your modules on QMplus. They tell you what knowledge and skills you are expected to develop and can help you understand what to focus on in your studies.

Tip 3: Get to know the marking criteria

Marking criteria help you understand what your lecturers are looking for in your work. Look at them before you start an assignment, not just before you submit it. Pay attention to areas such as argument, critical thinking, use of evidence, structure and presentation.

Keep developing with QM Elevate

QM Elevate offers free non-credit bearing modules to help you develop your academic communication, skills and confidence. Our first round of registration has now closed, but there are still places available on some five-week modules starting in the week of 9 November.

Find out more about QM Elevate and check the registration information on MySIS to see what is still available.
