Planned electrical works affecting the Mile End campus – Saturday 20 and Sunday 21 October

From Saturday 20 to Sunday 21 October, planned electrical works to recommission the Combined Heating and Power (CHP) Generator will take place at the Mile End campus. As part of these works, there will be a planned power shutdown of the Engineering Building, Graduate Centre, Great Hall and Queens’ Building.

Published:

There will be no access to these buildings during this time. If you are based in these buildings, you will be asked to make sure that all workstations are powered down, files and data are saved, and fridges emptied of perishables before leaving the building on Friday 19 October. Additional security will be in place to monitor these buildings over the weekend.

Measures have been put in place to make sure that there is no disruption to IT Services during this time. In cases where any specialist software or laboratory facilities may be affected, we are working directly with key stakeholders to make sure that necessary services will remain up and running. If you have any questions or concerns about IT services with regards to these works, please contact David Cooper at david.cooper@qmul.ac.uk

An informal working group has been formed with representatives from the key areas affected to make sure that these works run as smoothly as possible and that any disruption is kept to a minimum.

If you have any questions or concerns about this essential work, or would like to know more about the working group, please contact Emmanuel Nibo at e.w.nibo@qmul.ac.uk, or the Estates Helpdesk on 020 7882 2580 as soon as possible.
