National Student Survey (NSS) results - 2026

Professor Stephanie Marshall (Vice-President for Education, Queen Mary University of London) and Diya Mary Selastin (President, Queen Mary Students' Union) wrote to all students on Wednesday 8 July with an update on this year's National Student Survey (NSS) results.

Published:

Dear student,

Each year the National Student Survey (NSS) gives final year undergraduates an opportunity to highlight areas which have really supported their educational journey at Queen Mary and to suggest what we should prioritise in the future.

70 per cent of all our final year students took part in the NSS earlier this year and the results have been published today.

We are proud to report that we have improved our scores in all NSS questions. We are particularly pleased to see, for the third consecutive year, improvements in the Student Voice theme. And we are delighted to see the significant work around our learning resources being reflected in these results.

It's also great to see the question specifically related to the Students’ Union continuing to deliver a strong result and improving again year on year. We remain the top Russell Group Students' Union in London on this measure and saw our best performance against the benchmark for this question. Congratulations to everyone in the QMSU.

A huge part of these results are thanks to the active engagement of our students in co-creating the learning and teaching at Queen Mary. Your feedback is essential to this process, which benefits both current and future students. So please continue to make the most of the many opportunities to provide feedback, such as engaging with the Students’ Union though elected officers, and responding to module experience surveys. If you’re returning to Queen Mary in 2026/27, we’ll be in touch to tell you what we’ve done to make your experience here even better as a result of this feedback.

If you took the NSS this year, thank you. We look forward to celebrating your successes with you at Graduation. As a graduate you can benefit from our career support, an extensive global network of alumni expertise and connections, discounts on further study and more. Find out more about being a Queen Mary alum . And keep an eye out for the Graduate Outcomes Survey, coming in the next 15 months. It will be your chance to reflect on the ways we have supported your future career, particularly how what you have learned applies to your experiences in the world of work.

On behalf of the Queen Mary leadership team and our Students’ Union, we would like to thank all students for your continued contribution to our great University.

Best wishes,

Stephanie and Diya
