LGBT History Month and Student Pride Week events

Between Monday 26 February and Friday 2 March, Queen Mary LGBT+ Society will be hosting events for Student Pride Week. Events will be held every day from Monday to Friday, including film screenings, workshops, bake sales and more. Come and have some fun and discover more about the LGBT+ community.

Film Screening
Monday 26 February
For this event, we’ll be showing a screening of the Oscar winning LGBT+ film – Moonlight. Bring snacks!

LGBT+ History Event
Tuesday 27 February
This will be a panel discussion on the history of the LGBT+ movement in 20th century Britain. Academics and activists will be on the panel. Bring your questions!

LGBT+ Society: Spoons Social
Tuesday 27 February
Come and join us for a spoons social. This is an opportunity to get to know the committee, each other and to get a cheap lunch with other LGBT+ students. Drop in whenever you’re free.

Positive East: HIV and STI testing

All testing is free. We would strongly encourage going for a quick chat with their very friendly team.

Sexual Health Workshop
Wednesday 28 February
Ever wondered what you can do to keep yourself sexually safe as an LGBT+ person? Come along to our fun and friendly workshop – being run in conjunction with Positive East.

Literary Evening
Wednesday 28 February
Open mic! Come and spend an evening listening to or performing LGBT+ poetry and prose in a safe, comfortable environment. Come for the poems, stay for the people.

Bake Sale
Thursday 1 March
Come and find us in Library Square for our rainbow cake sale. All proceeds will be going to an LGBT+ charity.

Are you a trans person? Are you in need of a new wardrobe that fits with your gender identity and makes you feel good? Come and find us in the People's Palace.

LGBTea Late: Karaoke Edition
Thursday 1 March
Come on over to Bethnal Green for an entertaining night of Karaoke and drinking. Actual vocal skill not guaranteed nor expected.

Get Active
Friday 2 March
Find us for some sporting fun in Library Square. We’ll be handing out rainbow laces in support of LGBT+ people in sports.

LGBT+ Society: Pub Crawl
Friday 2 March
To round off the celebrations we’ll be doing a pub crawl through the East End. Meet us at The Half Moon Whetherspoons in Stepney Green. We’ll be the ones with the LGBT+ flag!
