Happy Holi

May we always spread the colour of joy, learning and growth. Queen Mary  wishes everyone celebrating a very Happy Holi!

Holi is a Hindu festival, also known as the ‘festival of colours’. This year, Holi falls on Wednesday 8 March and Holika Dahan falls on Tuesday 7 March. It celebrates the arrival of spring, the blossoming of love, and for many it is a time to meet others, play, and repair broken relationships.

The vibrant festival begins with Holika Dahan on the night of the full moon (Purnima) where people traditionally gather and perform religious rituals in front of the bonfire. The next morning is celebrated as Rangwali Holi – a free-for-all festival of colours, where people smear each other with powdered paints and throw coloured water.
