Garrod Pantry now open on Whitechapel campus

Queen Mary Food is delighted to announce the opening of the Garrod Pantry – a new food and drink space based in the Garrod Building at Whitechapel campus.

Published:

What is the Garrod Pantry?

It’s the space on the first floor of the Garrod Building formerly occupied by Beigal Bunnies, adjacent to the student common room.

What happened to Beigal Bunnies?

After sixteen years and having been closed since the start of the pandemic, sisters Donna and Roxann made the personal decision not to re-open the facility. As the Beigal Bunnies name was very much theirs, Queen Mary Food has given the space a new name after consultation with the Faculty of Medicine and Dentistry.

What’s on the menu?

Bagels will most certainly be available, as well as other breads with a variety of fillings, breakfast pastries and afternoon cakes. Hot food will include jacket potatoes, a daily changing soup and daily special hot dish. Initially, filter coffee will be available until our automated barista coffee machine arrives in around six weeks.

Who can use the Garrod Pantry?

Anyone with access to the Garrod Building can visit the space. During lunchtime, the rear door of the building will be open so the wider medical community can also buy food and drinks, as they used to do at Beigal Bunnies.

When’s it open?

Initially Garrod Pantry will be open from 8.30am to 3.00pm - we’ll monitor demand to see if these times need to be adjusted.

How can I get in touch with Queen Mary Food?

We’d love to hear your thoughts on the Garrod Pantry, so get in touch either in person or on email at qmfood@qmul.ac.uk.
