Confucius Institute events: Chinese calligraphy, painting and movie night
The Queen Mary Confucius Institute will be holding a series of events throughout March, including a traditional Chinese calligraphy workshop, Chinese painting class, and a Chinese movie. Come along and find out more about the Institute and the beauty of Chinese culture.
The Confucius Institute will once again be hosting Chinese calligraphy and painting workshops this month:
- Chinese calligraphy workshop, Wednesday 14 March, 6-8pm – Chinese calligraphy is a form of calligraphy widely practiced in China and revered in the Chinese cultural sphere, which often includes Japan, Korea, Taiwan, and Vietnam. The calligraphic tradition of East Asia originated and developed from China. Not only is it a functional way of writing, but it is also considered an art form within Asian culture.
- Chinese painting class, Wednesday 21 March, 6-8pm – This is for beginners, who are keen to learn about the beautiful art of Chinese brush painting. Through easy-to-follow instructions, everyone creates a piece of their own to take away!
Both events have very limited capacity and are on a first come basis, so if you would like to attend then please email email@example.com to reserve a space.
The venue for both workshops will be Room G13, Bancroft Building, Mile End campus.
We will also be hosting a Chinese movie on Wednesday 28 March. The movie, 'American Dreams in China' is the story of three friends, Cheng Dongqing, Meng Xiaojun and Wang Yang, who build a successful English language school in China called 'New Dream'.
If you would like to attend then please email firstname.lastname@example.org to reserve a space.
The movie will start at 6.30pm and the venue will be Hitchcock Theatre, ArtsOne Building, Mile End Campus.
All of our events/classes and courses are available to both Queen Mary students and staff, as well as guests.
