All-student email: supporting each other through challenging times
Dr Sharon Ellis, Chief Operations Officer and Chair of the Good Campus Relations Group, wrote to all students on Tuesday 30 September with a reminder about supporting each other through challenging times.
Dear students
The continuing events in the Middle East are extremely distressing for all of us, and particularly for those who are personally affected. We are approaching the second anniversary of the beginning of this latest conflict in the Middle East, which will be a very difficult moment for many of us.
University is precisely the place where difficult and complex issues should be debated; we should all feel able to express ourselves within the law. And it is vitally important, especially at a time like this, that we treat each other with respect, and respect each other’s different beliefs and points of view.
The University is here to support any student or member of staff affected by conflict, whether in the Middle East or elsewhere. More information on support for students is available here. Support for staff is available here.
We do not tolerate racism, antisemitism, Islamophobia, abuse, incitement or harassment of any kind. If you experience or witness anything like this, please report it immediately through Report + Support.
Best wishes,
Dr Sharon Ellis
Chief Operations Officer and Chair of the Good Campus Relations Group
