Time: 2:00 - 3:00pm Venue: Room 4.04/4.08, Bancroft Building, Mile End campus
Step Forward will be visiting Queen Mary to provide a free 'Introduction to Mindfulness and Awareness' workshop for those under the age of 22. During the workshop we will be introducing you to mindfulness, doing a few activities to try out some mindful thinking, a 'breathing space' meditation, and a nice visualisation exercise. Hopefully by the end of the hour you’ll be feeling pretty chilled!
No need to pre-book, just turn up on the day.

Mindfulness is about having moment-to-moment awareness of your own experience, with a feeling of acceptance. You're acting mindfully when you listen to a song you love, and notice every tiny detail in the sound. The opposite of mindfulness would be those times when your body works on 'autopilot', or when your mind is constantly occupied by worries about the past or to do lists for the future. By focusing on the here and now, many people who practice mindfulness find that they are less likely to get caught up in worries, are less preoccupied with concerns about success and are better able to reflect upon relationships with others.
Step Forward provides free and confidential wellbeing services for young people and young adults aged 11 to 25. Services include counselling, personal development, sexual health, and LGBTQ and wellbeing groups. We are based locally in Bethnal Green.
