Student looking for internship resizeUniversity isn’t all about going to lectures. You can join clubs and societies, volunteer in the local community or get work experience in different sectors.

As well as being a great way to make friends and find out what you enjoy, being able to demonstrate you’ve worked in a team, helped others, given a presentation or planned a project will appeal to employers.

Why not join societies related to your course or interests, or try something new? Or you could volunteer for a community project through the Students’ Union.

Careers & Enterprise can help you find internships and work experience – whether you want a placement in a local voluntary organisation or a global company. You can also get help with application forms and mock interviews.

Watch the film below for advice from students on developing your employability.
