Student surveys are an important opportunity for you to tell us about your experience at Queen Mary, in order to help us make the changes you want to see. A summary of our major student surveys is below. Results from these surveys are available our survey results page. Information on how we listen and take action on student feedback is available on the 'Tell us, we listen' webpage.
The Queen Mary Student Survey (QMSS) is an annual survey that asks students about their experience at Queen Mary. All returning undergraduates are invited, in September and October, to take part and provide feedback about the last full academic year. Responses are treated as confidential and it is not possible to identify an individual from a response as the data is aggregated and anonymised. What you say in the QMSS helps us to improve the learning and teaching experience and the services we offer at Queen Mary.
First-year undergraduate students and postgraduate taught students are invited to provide feedback on their experience of the first few weeks at Queen Mary through the Arrivals Survey. All responses are treated as confidential and it is not possible to identify any individual from any response as the data is aggregated and anonymised. The results from the survey help us to improve the arrivals process for future QMUL students.
Each year, final-year undergraduate students at all UK universities are invited to take part in the National Student Survey (NSS). The survey runs from January to April each year and is administered by an independent market research company on behalf of the Higher Education Funding Council for England (HEFCE). This is your opportunity to share your experiences of QMUL with the wider world and with future students. All answers are anonymous and the results are used to improve the student experience at Queen Mary.
The Postgraduate Taught Experience Survey (PTES) is your chance to provide feedback about your time as a postgraduate taught student at Queen Mary. The PTES is an annual survey which runs each year in the spring and is managed by the Higher Education Academy (HEA). Responses are confidential and the findings we publish, internally and externally, are aggregated and anonymised.
The Postgraduate Research Experience Survey (PRES) is your chance to provide feedback about your time as a postgraduate research (PGR) student at Queen Mary in order to help us improve the PGR offering at QMUL. The PRES takes place every two years in the spring, and is managed by the Higher Education Academy (HEA). Responses are confidential and the findings we publish, internally and externally, are aggregated and anonymised.
