Monday 8 May 2017
In recent weeks, QMUL and QMSU have been taking steps to help tackle hate crime on campus and within our community. On Friday 24 March, QMUL and QMSU signed the Tower Hamlets ‘No Place for Hate’ pledge, and on Monday 1 May, the Stop Hate 24 hour helpline launched at QMUL.
Following on from this, Stop Hate UK and Tower Hamlets council will be coming to QMUL Library Square, Mile End Campus on Monday 15 May, 11am to 3pm. They will have a stall and everyone – students and staff – is welcome to come and talk with them and find out more about:
- the Stop Hate 24 hour helpline at QMUL,
- hate speech, hate incidents and hate crime – what they are and why they matter, and what the new initiative between QMUL and Stop Hate UK is going to do to help and reduce all three for students and staff,
- the ‘No Place for Hate’ pledge. There will also be an opportunity to sign in person the individual pledge against hate in support of the Tower Hamlets “No Place for Hate” campaign.
We hope to see as many of you there as possible.
