Anything you think is missing from this list? Please email qmul-student@qmul.ac.uk.

Season’s greetings to you all!

As the term draws to a close we understand that not all students will be travelling home and that some will be staying in London over the festive period. To help those of you remaining in London or staying on and around campus during this time, we hope that you find the following guidance about what is going on in and around the local area useful.

Looking after yourself during the holidays

Christmas can be a difficult time of year for some people, particularly if you are alone and have nobody to spend the holidays with. The Student Health Service has provided some useful advice and information on where to go if you need help or are struggling to cope.

International Students House is a charity dedicated to British and International Students in London. They run lots of social events including a full Christmas Day, so if you are feeling isolated then you may find this useful. Check out their events page where you can book tickets to the Christmas Lunch.

Final tips for the festive period

Plan ahead:
If you are intending to study over the festive break and require access to physical library resources then you will need to take the resources out on loan before the library closes.

The library will be closed Friday 23 December 2016 to Tuesday 3 January 2017.

Ensure you have stocked your kitchen cupboards with enough food in anticipation of the shops being closed on Christmas Day.

Get together:
If you will be staying on campus or in London during the festive break then get involved with the QMSU/Housing Services Facebook page and connect with others in a similar position.

Come along to the event in the Canalside Study room at Mile End from 3–5pm on Tuesday 20 December to meet other students on campus.

Explore the local area:
Many local churches will have carol services that you can attend throughout the coming weeks.
