Recent snatch thefts on Mile End Road and personal safety

Thursday 24 November 2016

In recent weeks there has been an increase in reports of mobile phones and bags being snatched on the Mile End Road.

East London is generally a great and safe place to study and socialise in, but it’s always sensible to take precautions to minimise risk to your personal safety and personal belongings. For instance, busy locations such as public transport and outside underground stations are popular places for pickpockets and snatch thefts, so it’s a good idea to be especially vigilant.

QMUL Security maintain regular liaison with the Police. In the event of any suspicious activity or conduct, please report it either to the Police directly on 999 or, if close to the campus, any member of Security who will endeavour to provide support and assistance. They can be contacted in an emergency on 020 7882 3333. For tips and guidance on personal safety, visit: www.police.uk/crime-prevention-advice/theft-and-robbery.
