The Barts and The London Alumni Association (BATLAA), in conjunction with the Barts and The London Students’ Association (BLSA), held the inaugural Captains’ and Presidents’ Dinner on Friday 15 April. Over 100 guests, comprising former and current student representatives of Barts and The London Clubs and Societies and staff members, including Dr Rob Bennett, Chief Operating Officer, and Professor Steve Thornton, Vice-Principal (Health), enjoyed drinks and dinner at the Charterhouse, just a stone’s throw away from our Charterhouse Square campus.
The evening commenced with a lively drinks reception which gave guests the chance to catch up with old friends and meet new contacts. A joint welcome by Will Atkins, President of the BLSA, and Professor Paul Wright, President of BATLAA, was followed by a sumptuous three course meal and an after-dinner speech by Professor Steve Thornton, who welcomed all guests on behalf of the School.
The event provided the opportunity for alumni from across the years, spanning 1955 to 2015, to swop stories of their time at and beyond university and their Club/Society highlights with current students. It is anticipated that it will become a regular fixture in the alumni events calendar, with many guests commenting that they were “looking forward to the next occasion!”
