Updates from the Students’ Union – May 2016

Tuesday 26 April 2016

Study Well Fortnight

Study Well is a campaign led by the Students’ Union, working with other University bodies, to help ensure you can do your best during the revision period. From stress-reducing activities like yoga and games, through to extra study spaces over the next term such as Blomeley Room 2, you can find out what else your Union and University are doing to help you study well here. www.qmsu.org/studywell

Queen Mary Students’ Union Buddy Scheme is recruiting

The Students’ Union Buddy Scheme is recruiting volunteer mentors for next September – this is your chance to help incoming students get the most out of their first few months at University. As a mentor you will learn new skills, enhance your employability and meet new people. We’ll be offering training before matching you (and a friend if you’d like!) based on your interests with a group of new students in your school. Check out the website for more information here. www.qmsu.org/buddy

Queen Mary Skills Award 2016

On Tuesday 15 March, 97 students were awarded the Queen Mary Skills Award, double the number of completers in comparison to last year! The Queen Mary Skills Award helps students recognise, strengthen and market the work-ready skills students develop by taking leading and representative roles in the Students’ Union. We want to thank our three funders for making the 26 training sessions offered by the award possible: Westfield Fund, the Drapers’ Grant and Santander. You can read more about the Skills Award here https://www.qmsu.org/employability/qmskills/
