Queen Mary Students’ Union’s Drapers Bar and Kitchen at the Mile End campus has been awarded Gold for the second year running in this year’s NUS Best Bar None awards, a national scheme supported by the Home Office and aimed at promoting responsible management and operation of alcohol-licensed premises.
The assessment took place both on and off site, covering elements such as staff training, security procedures and policies, health and safety, and customer care. Drapers’ score of 90.38 per cent was an improvement on last year and well above the national average of 82.74 per cent.
QMSU CEO Mike Wojcik commented: “We’re delighted to have been awarded Gold for a second year. This achievement confirms the hard work that our staff do to ensure that Drapers is a safe place to work and visit, and our commitment to best practice in the management of a licensed venue.”
