SaveME – Mile End Road safety demonstration, Thursday 12 March

Thursday 12 March 2015

Queen Mary Students’ Union have been working in collaboration with several organisations in the local community to launch a campaign called SaveME (Mile End), which focuses on road safety, specifically around the Mile End Road area. This three kilometre stretch of road has seen numerous incidents in recent years and the goal is to address this as a community. The next step in the campaign is to have a demonstration on Thursday 12 March 2015 at 7pm in Library Square at the Mile End campus to reclaim the safety of Mile End Road.

The campaign is in collaboration with Citizens UK and includes QMUL and the local community in Tower Hamlets. The aim is to target stakeholders who can control and change the safety provisions on Mile End Road, such as Transport for London (TfL) and the Mayor of London, Boris Johnson.

You can help and support Queen Mary and your local community by attending the demonstration, meeting us at the end for a photo opportunity with the local press and Queen Mary Students’ Union Media outside Queens’ Building, or supporting the campaign on social media.
