Telephone upgrade across all campuses – Friday 6 February

IT Services are changing telephone providers and moving our telephony service onto new technology that is more reliable, resilient and better value for money. It will affect all phones across all campuses.

This essential work will take place outside of normal working hours to ensure we keep any disruption to a minimum. The initial phase of work to move outbound calls to the new provider was successful and took place on Friday 30 January.

The next phase of work is scheduled for 5pm to midnight this Friday 6 February and will impact incoming calls. During this time you will not be able to receive incoming calls from outside QMUL. Calls to internal extensions and external calls to non-QMUL numbers will not be affected.

Please do not use any of the lifts across campus during this time as the emergency phones inside the lifts will not work.

In case of emergency or if you need assistance, please contact Security on 0207 882 3333 or call 07887 627 938 if you have any problems getting through. IT Services and Estates are working together to ensure that appropriate emergency procedures are in place. There will be additional security patrols across all campuses monitoring lifts and fire alarm panels.  Warning notices with emergency contact details will also be placed at lifts across all campuses asking staff and students not to use lifts during the hours affected.
