Do you want to develop the skills to make things happen, to be a leader and change the world?

Friday 9 January 2015

Barack Obama’s experience as a community organiser in Chicago gave him the skills and experience that proved pivotal to his successful election campaign in 2008. In the UK, London Citizens have used community organising to bring together diverse communities, pioneer the Living Wage and deliver affordable housing in Mile End.

This year, Queen Mary and London Citizens are offering students a fantastic opportunity to learn the skills and techniques behind these successful campaigns. The Leadership and Community Organising Training is free, open to all students and runs throughout the academic year. It will involve 6 hours of learning and the opportunity to practise the skills learned in class.

The course is open to a limited number of students in each cohort - we will take the first applicants and then keep a waiting list for subsequent cohorts of students.

There will be two three hour sessions, which will be held on separate dates. They are:

  1. Wednesday 21 January 2015 - 5pm till 8pm
  2. Wednesday 28 January 2015 - 5pm till 8pm

All the sessions will be held in the City Centre Seminar Room, second floor, Francis Bancroft Building, Mile End campus.

Attendance at both sessions is compulsory to complete the training (which is certificated). Register your place here - https://www.eventbrite.co.uk/e/leadership-community-organising-training-cohort-3-tickets-15203700678
