A lunchtime concert given by two outstanding young Queen Mary pianists. Matthew Powders and Steven Dodsworth together with the Queen Mary String Quartet perform one of Mozart’s most beloved concertos alongside Gerald Finzi’s magisterial concertante work.

In the year of the 450th birthday of William Shakespeare, pianist Gavin Roberts, actor Brodie Ross and director Dinah Stabb bring some of the most dynamic singers and actors from the celebrated Guildhall School of Music and Drama to reveal the great bards work in musical as well as dramatic form.  Such plays as Romeo and Juliet, Anthony & Cleopatra, Othello and Macbeth come to life through the eyes and ears of composers such as Sergei Prokofiev, Richard Strauss, Samuel Barber and Joseph Horowitz.

The Queen Mary Choir, Orchestra, A Cappella and Brass Ensemble perform a programme of works to reflect the festive season, as well as a Shakespearian theme.  Vivaldi's sparkling Gloria is set beside William Walton's memorable music from Lawrence Olivier’s celebrated Henry V and Sibelius haunting incidental music to Shakespeare's most magical play.
