Go Green for Queen Mary

Friday 12 September 2014

Queen Mary is working hard to do our bit for the environment – but we need your help! From being a Project Assistant for Green Impact to working as a Student Switch Off ambassador, there’s lots of opportunities that you can get involved in which will not only boost your CV, but also help the environment too!

Volunteer for Green Impact

Green Impact is an environmental awards programme run by the National Union of Students in more than 50 Universities and Colleges and 100 Students’ Unions across the UK. QMUL are offering an opportunity for students to gain skills in project management, communications and leadership by supporting and motivating staff by becoming Project Assistants.

Project Assistants will help recruit teams throughout QMUL and then offer support to help Green Impact teams complete the workbooks. The number of hours each volunteer needs to commit to varies depending on how much help teams will need however on average an hour a week is a great help.  A number of training sessions will be held throughout October 2014.

If you are interested in volunteering email the sustainability team on greenimpact@qmul.ac.uk.

Become a Student Switch Off ambassador

We are looking for enthusiastic, environmentally-minded students to become Ambassadors for the Student Switch Off campaign, helping to save energy and boost recycling in the halls this year. Come along to our training session to find out more and get involved.

The training is a fun and interactive workshop providing you with skills in communication, social media and environmental campaigning. We will look at the Student Switch Off as a practical example of how to encourage behaviour change and together we can plan the campaign for Queen Mary this year. Our tips and tricks on effective communication will be transferable to your academic and extra-curricular activities and attending will look great on your CV!

As a bonus we will provide you with a free lunch and a Student Switch Off t-shirt!

Tuesday 21 October 2014, training will take under two hours and be at Mile End, exact times to be confirmed depending on numbers signed up.

To register to attend email greenimpact@qmul.ac.uk.
