Drapers Bar wins National Venue Award

Tuesday 29 July 2014

Drapers Bar, Mile End campus

Drapers Bar was awarded with the Best Students’ Union Venue (capacity up to 1,000 persons) award at the Ents Forum awards held at Nottingham Trent University.

The venue is a core part of social life at QMUL. A bar and restaurant during the day, Drapers turns into turns into a club venue at night. Also part of the venue is Drapers Lounge, a newly refurbished social space for students and staff to relax and take a break from their work and studies.

These were the second awards organised by Ents Forum, a group set up by students’ union and university events staff to share best-practice and facilitate partnership working.

Joey Addai-Poku, the Students’ Union’s Senior Events and Entertainments Manager, made the night a double victory by bringing home the Students’ Union Manager of the Year award. On receiving both awards he commented:

“The last year has been an incredible one for us. Our events have been more popular than ever and we’ve never organised such a wide ranging and diverse entertainments programme - there truly was an event for everyone. I am so proud of our work and our great team. It’s fantastic to receive this level of recognition for it. Going into the next academic year, the Students’ Union is more committed than ever to provide students at QMUL with the best possible experience.”
