Tuesday 1 July 2014

Queen Mary has risen four places in The Guardian University Guide 2015 and is now ranked 32nd out of 116 UK universities and in the top five multi-faculty institutions in London. In the Guardian’s individual subject league tables several subject areas at QMUL, including Drama, Dentistry, Law and Economics appear in the top ten in their field.

Dentistry has risen from 4th to 2nd place, while Medicine is ranked 6th, up from 11th last year. Law at QMUL has risen to 3rd position out of 97 universities offering the subject, up from 6th in last year’s league table. History is rated 10th out of 90 courses, and Drama 4th out of 81.

Economics is ranked 4th out of 67 universities offering the course, up from 13th, while Accounting and Finance is rated 7th out of 96 universities.

English (18th out of 105 universities), Modern Languages and Linguistics (19th) and Geography also rank in the UK Top 20, with Geography rising 6 places to 14th.

The Guardian's ranking uses eight different criteria, including student satisfaction with teaching and feedback, student to staff ratio, spend per student and graduate job prospects. Unlike other annual rankings of British universities, the criteria do not include a measure of research output.
