Professor Dame Nancy Rothwell will be visiting QM for a talk entitled ‘A Life in Science’ as part of Women In Science and Engineering’s (WISE) celebrations of International Women’s Day. The talk will take place on Wednesday 12 March 4.00 – 6.30pm in the G.E. Fogg Building on Mile End campus. The talk is free of charge and is a brilliant opportunity to get an insight into Professor Rothwell’s experiences of working as a woman in science.
Professor Dame Nancy Rothwell is Fellow of the Royal Society, President and Vice-Chancellor at the University of Manchester. She is also Co-Chair of the Prime Minister’s Council for Science and Technology and was recently appointed as Deputy Lieutenant for Greater Manchester. She takes a strong and active interest in public communication of science and regularly gives talks and contributes to television, radio and press. In 2003 she won the prestigious Pfizer Research Prize, in 2004 was elected a Fellow of the Royal Society and in 2005 was made a Dame (DBE) .
