The Centre for Public Engagement have launched a funding competition to support activity that aims to engage the public with Queen Mary and its research. You can bid for any amount between £1000 and £50000 to support any activity which is targeted at an audience outside of universities. Whether you are part of a society, or have a great idea that you want to do by yourself or with friends, the Centre for Public Engagement want to hear from you! The deadline for applications is the 22nd April - find out more here. They are also running two special advice sessions to give you the best chance of getting funding.
The Centre is looking for activity which is really innovative - showing a novel approach to building relationships with groups outside of universities. Target audiences could be school groups, charities, industry or anyone who isn't a staff member or student at a university. The projects which have funded in the past are all very unique, so bring your wildest idea along and we'll see if we can make it work.
You can see what we funded last year here: www.qmul.ac.uk/publicengagement/2013.
The Centre is really keen to support student led projects in your application for this funding. Whether you are part of a society, or have a great idea that you want to do by yourself or with friends, we are running two special advice sessions to give you the best chance of getting funding.
On Tuesday 25 March, there is a drop in session in the Students’ Union Hub at the Mile End campus from 11am-2pm, where you can pick our brains and develop your ideas. After that, we will run a special session where we will help you fill in the application form, to make sure that you have included everything you need to. This will take place on the 15 April, 2pm-4pm.
