Tuesday 4 February 2014
QM has been notified that UCU, Unison and Unite have planned a strike on Thursday 6 February 2014. This is in addition to planned strike by UCU on Monday, 10 February. That means that staff who are members have been called upon by their Trade Union to not fulfil their contractual requirements on the days on which that Union has called a strike.
If you have any concerns, or encounter any issues on the day, please contact your School. Your School will attempt to minimise disruption and will inform you of any alternative arrangements as soon as possible.
The strike action relates to a disagreement between UCU and the Universities and Colleges Employers Association (UCEA), of which Queen Mary is a member, relating to how much higher education institutions increase the amount they pay staff on the national pay framework. Some brief background information on the circumstances leading up to this action are outlined on the staff intranet Connect, which students can access when logged on to the network.
