Carla Valentine, Technical Assistant Curator at Barts Pathology Museum has set up a new blog for the museum: http://potts-pots.blogspot.co.uk/. It’s named after Sir Percival Pott, one of whose specimens is the oldest in the museum, dated around 1750.
The blog will be used to give more information up about museum events and Carla will be posting about the specimens as she conserves them, giving a bit more background information as to what she’s doing and why the museum isn’t open every day for visits. She has generated QR codes and attached them to the relevant specimens, meaning that it’s possible for you to swipe them on your phone and read about the pots while having a glass of wine before events.
She has now requested feedback on the blog: for example, do you like the ‘vintage’ look or would you prefer a more modern image? What do you think of the upcoming Autumn Seminar Season? So, please follow the blog at http://potts-pots.blogspot.co.uk/ and leave your thoughts in the comments section.
There are also some spaces left for Lauren Baker’s ‘Skull Art’ workshop on Saturday 27 April - please see the Events tab on the blog for more details: http://potts-pots.blogspot.co.uk/p/events.html.
Carla Valentine also recently featured in the ‘Work / Life’ section of Stylist magazine, the UK’s biggest circulating women’s magazine. Read the article here: stylist.co.uk/home/carla-valentine-medical-museum-curator-barts-pathology-museum.
