Take 12 is a new exercise challenge, funded by the London Legacy Development Corporation, that has been launched in the Olympic Boroughs with the aim of getting people to explore their borough, whilst being active. If you live in any of the Olympic Boroughs, then it’s time to get involved! As an added bonus, Take 12 is offering 17 QM students the chance to get hold of a ticket to tour the Olympic Park when you register for the challenge, but get your applications in now – the deadline is Tuesday 5 February!
The tour will take place on Thursday 14 February at 9.30am and the tickets will be allocated by Take 12 through a ballot system. When registering make sure you enter ‘Queen Mary University’ into the organisation field, so that Take 12 are able to enter you into the correct ballot.
Everyone who registers will also be able to claim a Cabana Take 12 Meal. Cabana is a great Brazilian restaurant at Westfield, Stratford, and you can find out more about the meal on the Take 12 website.
The Take 12 challenge is simple – complete 12 hours or 12km of physical activity in 12 weeks in one of the Olympic Boroughs – Tower Hamlets, Newham, Hackney, Barking & Dagenham, Waltham Forest and Greenwich. The challenge aims to get people exploring their borough, whilst being active. It’s completely free to take part in, and Take 12’s website has a range of free walking routes that participants can explore, along with local sports venue information: http://www.take12.org/index.php. iPhone and Android apps will be launched shortly to help you track your progress, or you can join in the competition on social media on Twitter (@Take12Challenge) and Facebook (Take12Challenge).
Funded by the London Legacy Development Corporation, the company in charge of the Olympic park, the Take 12 Challenge is a key part of the Legacy plan.
The Take 12 Challenge started in January and runs throughout the year, so visit the website and get involved!
