Barts and The London is 8th in the UK and 57th in the world, according to the Times Higher Education (THE) World University Rankings 2013-14, which were published on Thursday 3 October. Barts also fared extremely well in the recent Sunday Times Good University Guide, rising to seventh in the UK and third in London for medicine.

In the THE World Rankings, Queen Mary, of which Barts is part, has been named as one of the top universities in the world after coming in at number 114, a rise of more than 30 places in one year. In the UK, Queen Mary was awarded 14th position, up from 21st last year.

The global league table, which is now in its 10th year, is based on 13 separate performance indicators grouped into five areas: teaching, research, citations, income from industry and international outlook.

Queen Mary’s Vice Principal for Health, Professor Richard Trembath said: “We are thrilled to see Queen Mary’s cutting edge medical and dental education and research recognised in the prestigious Times Higher University Rankings. We have a dedicated and talented team of academics and it's thanks to them and the efforts of our students; we are fostering the health innovators of the future.”
