Over the summer your Students’ Union has been working hard to put together new activities for you to get involved with this year.
The first activity is Try Something. As the name says, Try Something is full of activities for you to try. Each opportunity provides the chance to experience new things, meet new people, learn new skills and visit different places. Over Freshers’ week we ran sessions on street art and home cooking as well as bus tours and in the coming days and weeks we will feature salsa dancing, circus skills, theatre trips and more. Some of the activities are free, others work on a pay as you go basis. Simply sign up in advance on the Union website or at reception and turn up. For more information visit: www.qmsu.org/trysomething.
The second new activity this year is QMSU Sports Leagues, in association with Sport England. Sports leagues offer participation in five sports; Basketball, Football, Netball, Table Tennis and Tennis. The Leagues offer a competitive environment for students to access sport without the commitment of team training and the expense of joining a club. Winning teams will be awarded trophies and medals at the end of the league. For more information visit: www.qmsu.org/sportleagues/.
Get Active, the recreational sports programme, has increased their sports offering by including Dance and Handball sessions. For dedicated students who attend multiple session there is now a loyalty card scheme whereby you can earn rewards such as branded t-shirts and hoodies. Additionally, Qmotion members can receive £10 off their annual Get Active membership. For more information visit: www.qmsu.org/getactive.
There is a lot planned for the year ahead and we have more societies, sports clubs and volunteering opportunities than ever before for you to get involved with. If you have any questions or want to get more information please visit the Students’ Union Hub or the website at www.qmsu.org.
