A series of free surgical lectures are being delivered by Dr Gary Sharp, FY2 and Barts and the London graduate. The lectures are for Barts and the London School of Medicine students only, and while the target audience is final year students, medical students from all years are welcome to attend.
The series of free lectures, which include topics such as hernias, neck lumps and breast disease, are a first for Barts. While medical students have regular access to extracurricular medical teaching, the same is not true about surgical teaching and this series of lectures hopes to address that. The objective of these lectures is twofold; firstly as a revision tool prior to finals and secondly to increase finalist confidence about becoming an FY1 on a surgical firm.
Many other universities charge students for extracurricular surgical teaching; Gary and Barts are leading the way in providing these lectures for free.
Speaker: Dr Gary Sharp MBBS BSc (Hons) North East Thames Deanery FY2 and Barts graduate.
