Tuesday 20 November 2012
On Thursday 22 November, Thames21, the voice for London’s waterways, will be organizing a clean-up of Regent’s Canal, close to the Mile End campus. Thames21 would like you to get involved helping with the clean-up.
Thames21 work with communities to improve rivers and canals for people and wildlife. This event is part of the Big Waterways Clean Up 2012 project and all Thames21 need from you is a few hours of your time, and some energy! Just turn up ready to undertake tasks such as:
- Canoeing and remove floating litter at the same time.
- Using a grapple hook to remove submerged litter.
- Removing floating litter using nets and long litter pickers.
- A towpath litter pick
All equipment, and tea and biscuits, will be provided. Under 16s must be accompanied by an adult.
Date: Thursday 22 November
Meeting point: Meet in Mile End Stadium car park on Rhodeswell Road/St Paul’s Way at 10:30am; look out for the BWCU2012 Thrifty Van! Please note: this is the small car park next to the Athletics track rather than the large sports centre car park.
Please contact Ben Fenton if you would like more information.
