Renovation of the BLSA Building and Griff Inn on Whitechapel campus

Thursday 25 October 2012

The Barts and The London Students’ Association (BLSA) building on Whitechapel campus, best known for the licensed bar facility The Griff Inn, has undergone an extensive refurbishment, taking place over the 2011/12 academic year and reopening for the new academic year.

The refurbishments focused on the ground floor which now consists of the The Griff Inn Bar and Kitchen and a Box Office/Reception. The Griff Inn offers a full Starbucks coffee menu and a food menu throughout the day, providing options for those with dietary requirements. The space is also suitable for a variety of evening and daytime events. More information can be found here: www.qmsu.org/griffinn

Andy Smith, Vice-President Barts and The London, says: "The refurbishment of the BLSA building has provided students with a fantastic new facility for their use. The footfall during the day is testament to the quality of the service provided and there are now an enhanced number of facilities on offer. The building will serve the students well for years to come."

The College has funded the £1 million improvement project, resulting in an improved space for study during the day and a venue for BLSA clubs and societies to use for functions and events.

Alongside other improvements to student facilities across the College, the Griff Inn Bar and Kitchen will help the Queen Mary Students’ Union continue to deliver its objectives of enhancing cultural, entertainment and celebratory events and delivering innovative and student-focused facilities and social spaces.

The BLSA Building is located on Newark street, E1 2AD, on Whitechapel campus. For a map, click here.
