Get active, volunteer, develop your skills and employability or earn some money working for the Union, as a Queen Mary student your opportunities are as big as your imagination.
There are also plenty of opportunities to broaden your horizons, explore new interests or improve your skills elsewhere at Queen Mary, such as study abroad opportunities, job and volunteering offerings and music groups and lessons.
Deliver sports sessions in local schools and the local community as part of the Union’s Community Sport programme. All students involved in the programme receive a professional coaching qualification.
Get Active is the Union’s ‘turn up and play’ sports programme. Funded by Sport England, Get Active features special sessions at the Olympic Park, women’s only activities and low-cost sessions for all students.
Get involved in hundreds of one-off and ongoing opportunities to make a difference in the local community.
All students involved in Union activities can register for the QM Skills Award – a training and accreditation programme – to record and understand the skills gained through extracurricular activities.
The Union’s Buddy Scheme gives new students a chance to meet other new students from their course, as well as get tips and advice about university life from current students.
The Union employs over 200 students each year to work at receptions, venues, shops and cafes.
